The Barons defeated the So Cal Catch on the road Saturday afternoon by a score of 5-0.

Pitching Coach Darrell Jackson said before the game, “We do not have that many pitchers available today so everyone needs to be lights out.” And the pitchers were lights out to say the least.

Matt Mogollon received the start for the Barons and after a rough outing in his last start against the Slo Blues, Mogollon pitched like his All-Star self once again. Mogollon pitched 6.0 scoreless innings and only allowed five hits. Blair Frederick followed going 2.0 innings and only allowing one hit. Tyler Tungate pitched the 9th inning and allowed just one hit as well.

The Barons’ offense did not need to be stellar thanks to the pitching but they tallied up 13 hits leading to their five runs. Randy Rubio was scorching the ball going 3-5 with 3 RBIs, he now has 9 RBIs in the last two games. Joseph Argumedo continued his hot ways from the plate going 2-4 with an RBI as well.

The Barons will play their final game against the Catch Sunday at the MLB Youth Academy at 1 p.m.
