In one of their best pitching performance on the season, the Barons put up a combined two hitter in a 6-1 victory over the Ventura Halos.

Wesley Albert started his first game of the season and was unstoppable. Albert pitched 5.o innings allowing just one hit and one run while striking out seven batters. Manager Kenny Landreaux was impressed by the start.

“It was nice seeing Wes pitch like that,” Landreaux said. “Those guys (Halos) could not touch him.”

Joseph Mercado came in for the relief and pitched 4.0 innings allowing just one hit and no runs.

The Barons tallied up 11 hits in the game. Bruce Martin broke from his slump going 2-4 while Randy Rubio went 1-4 with 2 RBIs.

The Barons have just five games remaining in the regular season and will start a three game series against the So Cal Catch on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
