Barons fall to Riptide on the Road

The Barons fell against the OC Riptide for the 3rd straight game by a score of 15-2. The Barons lost all three games in the series and have now dropped five games in a row.

The Barons pitchers struggled early and often in the game. Tyler Tungate received the start pitching 2.0 innings and allowed seven hits and eight runs. Tungate was replaced by left hander Jared DaRocha who pitched 2.0 innings allowing four hits and five runs. Aaron Soto was the third pitcher called from the bullpen. Soto pitched 3.0 innings and allowed two runs. The Riptide hitting slowed down as the Barons’ bullpen started to find their rhythm. Wesley Albert was called upon for one inning of relief and did not allow a single hit.

The Barons’ bats have been silent since falling to the Long Beach Legends 9-6. Against the Riptide in their final game of the 3-game set, the Barons had nine hits which contributed to their two runs. Michael Garner led the way going 3-4 while Jesse Hayes and Darren Contreras contributed one RBI each.

The Barons will play the So Cal Catch on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Biola University. It will be their last game before the All Star Break.
