Barons Fall to Riptide 5-0

The Barons dropped a home game against the OC Riptide on Saturday by a score of 5-0.

Sebastian Sanchez received the start for the Academy in Saturday afternoon’s contest. Sanchez pitched 3.0 innings and gave up eight hits and four earned runs. Joseph Mercado was the first pitcher called upon from the bullpen. Mercado went 3.0 innings only allowing two hits and did not allow a single run. Mercado also escaped a bases loaded jam with one out. Tyshaun Chapman entered the game and pitched possibly his best game of the year. Chapman went 2.6 innings allowing just three hits and one earned run. Jared DaRocha was the final pitcher and struck out the only batter he faced.

The Barons’ bats were held silent in the shutout. The team tallied a total of six hits with Hunter Allen leading the way going 2-3.

The Barons and the Riptide will play again on Sunday at Concordia University. First pitch is scheduled for 4:35.
