Barons Fall to Legends 9-6

The Academy Barons lost the last of a 3 game series against the Long Beach Legends by a score of 9-6.

Tyshaun Chapman received his first start of the year for the Barons in Sunday’s game. Chapman pitched for 4.0 innings giving up nine hits and six runs. Chapman did strikeout three batters he faced. Jared DaRocha followed on the mound pitching just 2.0 innings and not allowing a single run or hit by the Legends. Aaron Soto pitched the 7th and 8th inning and pitched well. Soto only allowed one hit and no runs. Joseph Mercado was the final pitcher in the game for the Barons. Mercado allowed four hits and three runs in the ninth inning.

The Barons’ bats were kept in check this game. The Barons tallied up 12 hits that led to their six runs. Randy Rubio continued to excel from the plate going 3-5 with 3 RBIs and Jonah Hargroves went 3-4 with 2 RBIs.

The Barons will not play again until July 7th against the OC Riptide. That game will be at the Youth Academy and is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
