The Academy Barons defeated the So Cal Catch for the second straight day by a score of 8-4. The Barons have now won four out of their last five and extend their win streak to three games.

Tyler Witt got the start for the Barons today. Witt pitched 4.0 innings allowing six hits and just two earned runs. Tyler Tungate of Faulkner State College followed Witt and pitched 3.0 innings. During his time on the mound Tungate allowed 2.0 runs, none of which were earned due to a couple of fielding errors. Joseph Mercado was called upon for the final two innings and pitched very well. During those two innings he allowed just one hit and no runs.

The Barons had just five hits but it was timely hitting that led to the eight run outburst. Solomon Bates (3-5, 3 RBIs and 1 HR) launched a 3-run homer to give the Barons a 5-2 lead, a lead which the Barons would hold on to the rest of the game. Angel Mora also delivered for the Barons going 2-4 with a 2 run homer in the first inning; his second homerun in as many days.

The Barons will have the day off on Thursday but will play the Long Beach Legends on Friday on the road at 6 p.m.
