Mogollon’s Gem Leads Barons to 7-4 Win

The Academy Barons picked up their sixth win of the season behind the arm of Matt Mogollon defeating the So Cal Catch 7-4.

For the 2nd straight game, Matt Mogollon was stellar on the mound. The starter from Chapman University threw 7.0 innings allowing just four hits and two earned runs. Mogollon was holding on to a one hit shutout through six innings. Solomon Bates was called on in relief for the final two innings of the game. During those 2.0 innings Bates allowed two hits and two earned runs. Mogollon was awarded the win for the game, his first win of the CCL season.

The Barons bats came alive early in the game and were powerful throughout. Denzl Chapman (1-4, 1 RBI, 1 HR) and Angel Mora (2-4, 2RBIs, 1 HR) led the way for the Barons’ hitters. RJ Bates and Jonah Hargroves delivered as well each going 2-3 each.

The Barons and the Catch will play again tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. at Biola University.
