Barons Top Oaks on the Road

The Academy Barons picked up a much-needed win on Wednesday evening over the Conejo Oaks by a score of 4-2. The win snapped a seven game losing streak for the Barons

Matt Mogollon received the start for the Barons and was dominant to say the least. Mogollon pitched 7.0 innings; allowing five hits and one earned run during his start. Mogollon also fanned seven Oaks’ batters. Solomon Bates was called upon for relief duty and was stellar as well. Bates pitched 2.0 innings; allowing one hit and one earned run along with striking out four batters.

After only scoring one run in the previous two games combined, the Barons’ bats finally came alive in crucial moments. The Barons tallied up ten hits to go alone with their four runs an had a 2-1 lead heading into the 8th inning. The Oaks tied the game in the 8th but the Barons came back with a huge response. Javier Garcia (1-4, 2 RBIs) delivered a double with two outs in the 9th inning to put the Barons up for good. Donovyn Curiel and Garrett Ouellette also delivered at the plate going 2-5 with an RBI and 1-4 with an RBI respectively.

The Barons will play the Conejo Oaks again on Thursday night at the MLB Youth Academy. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
