Barons Lose First Playoff Game to Oaks

The Barons lost their playoff opener to the Conejo Oaks 5-4 on Friday night at the Academy.

RHP Henry Omana started on the mound for the top-seeded Barons and threw 6.0 innings with eight strikeouts. Joseph Mercado threw 2.0 innings in relief while picking up three strikeouts, and Oscar Muñoz pitched the final inning.

Offensively, the Barons were led by center fielder Keyon Allen (3×5) and left fielder Ernie De La Trinidad (2×5) who combined for five of the squad’s nine hits.

The Barons take the field on Saturday for a 10 a.m. elimination game against the defending league champion Neptune Beach Pearl. The Pearl won the north division, finishing the season with a 17-9 mark. The Pearl lost to the Santa Barbara Foresters 3-1 in their first playoff contest on Friday.
