Barons Split Doubleheader to Close Out Regular Season

The Barons concluded regular season play on Friday, splitting a doubleheader against the Orange County Riptide. The Barons lost the first game 7-2 in seven innings, and won the second in nine, 15-1.

RHP Ryan Hare took the mound to start the day for the Barons, throwing 3.0 innings while registering one strikeout. RHP Travis Bonner threw the remaining 4.0 innings while picking up three strikeouts. Shortstop Sam Shaikin went 1×3 with a double and designated hitter Jonah Hargroves went 1×3 with a triple in the game.

Barons RHP Tyler Tungate started the second contest for the Barons, throwing 5.0 innings and collecting two punch outs. The offensive charge was led by third baseman Martin Teague who went 3×4 with three RBI and a double. Catcher Jonah Hargroves went 2×3, and right fielder Kevin Maxey went 2×4 with two RBI.

The Barons next take the field on Friday when they kick off their postseason run in the 2016 CCL playoffs. The Barons enter the playoffs, which will take place at the Urban Youth Academy, as the number one seed and will therefore face the number four, wildcard seeded Conejo Oaks. This match is set for 6 p.m. at the home of the Barons.
