Six Barons Named CCL All-Stars

The California Collegiate League (CCL) has announced its 54-man roster for the 2016 All-Star Game and six Barons were named. The list consists of two pitchers and four position players: RHP Reece Buska, first baseman Aaron Cisneros, outfielder Ernie De La Trinidad, outfielder Cody Den Beste, RHP Henry Omana, and infielder Martin Teague. The six players representing the Academy are the second-most of any team in the CCL, behind only the Santa Barbara Foresters who have seven.

On the mound, Buska has solidified his role as the Academy’s closer. Through 17.1 innings of work, the Long Beach native has earned a 2.07 ERA and collected 14 strikeouts. Omana has appeared in eight games, starting six of them. From Walnut, Omana has a 3.21 ERA while striking out 22 through 28 innings.

After a 2015 nod, Cisneros has been named a CCL All-Star for the second consecutive season. A rising senior at UC Riverside, the San Bernardino native is hitting .307 with three home runs, nine doubles, and four triples. He is fourth in the CCL with 24 RBI. Den Beste, a rising senior at Prairie View A&M, is hitting .306 with two home runs, three doubles, two triples, while knocking in 11 runs. De La Trinidad is the league leader in batting average (.443) and has recorded a hit in 20 games this season. The Phoenix native has three home runs, six doubles, and five triples this season. Teague is tied (1) for the most RBI with 32 on the year. The rising senior at Hope International University is second to De La Trinidad in batting average with a .392 mark. Teague and has belted four home runs and has a team-high 10 doubles.

In addition to the six players honored on the list, Barons manager Kenny Landreaux has been named the manager of the CCL South team. Landreaux earned the honor by coaching the Barons to the best record in the league through July 1. The manager of the North squad will be the Santa Barbara Foresters’ Bill Pintard.

The All-Star Game will be held at the Academy on Wednesday, July 13, at 7 p.m. The game will be televised live on Fox Sports West.
