Morrison Homers in Barons Victory Over Legends

Second baseman Adonis Morrison hit a home run, left fielder Ernie De La Trinidad went 4×4, and the pitching staff put on a strong performance as the Barons won their third consecutive league game on Friday, defeating the Long Beach Legends 6-4.

Starting RHP Sebastian Sanchez held the Legends hitless through his three innings of work while notching three strikeouts. RHP Gary Smith earned the win after tossing a scoreless eighth inning and RHP Ryan Hare got the save. As a group, the Barons allowed just four hits.

At the dish, the Academy was led by De La Trinidad who hit two triples, giving him five on the season. Morrison (1×3) contributed with his first home run of the season, while first baseman Martin Teague went 2×4 with two RBI. Teague is the league leader in RBI, now with 32.

The Barons host their second exhibition game against the USA Collegiate National Team (CNT) in a 1 p.m. game on Saturday. In their first meeting, the two squads played a full nine innings and the CNT finished on top, 5-0.
