Barons Lose Exhibition Game to USA Collegiate National Team

The Academy lost to the USA Collegiate National Team (CNT) in an exhibition game at Angel Stadium on Thursday night. The final score after a full nine innings of play was 5-0.

The Barons threw a pitcher per inning in the contest. The staff’s effort was highlighted by RHP Henry Omaña who struck out two batters in his inning.

Offensively, the team was limited to four hits which came from four different players. Shortstops Reggie Southall and Sam Shaikin, and OF James Stea collected a single a piece. OF Keyon Allen knocked his first hit in a pinch-hit role in his first and only at bat of the season after just returning from injury.

The Barons take on the Long Beach Legends in Compton tomorrow at 6 p.m. The CNT will visit the Academy on Saturday to face the Barons once more before heading to Taiwan to begin international play. This affair is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
