Barons Answer Back With Big Win

The Academy Barons (15-4, 10-4) beat the So Cal Catch on Sunday, 17-2.

RHP Ryan Hare started on the hill for the Barons and earned the win, dealing five innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out three. After Saturday’s loss, the bullpen bounced back and tossed four innings, allowing one run and striking out six.

Five Barons players had multi-hit performances. Center fielder James Stea led the pack going 2×4 with a home run, a double, and four RBIs. Designated hitter Martin Teague went 2×4 with a double and two RBIs, giving him a league-leading total of 30 RBI on the season. Third baseman Trent Hammond went 1×4 with two RBIs. Shortstop Sam Shaikin went 1×3 with an RBI double and scored four times.

The Barons continue league play on Wednesday when they visit the Ventura Halos at Ventura College. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
