The Barons (12-3, 7-3) sit in second place in the California Collegiate League and first in the South Division. The team has their high-powered offense to thank for that, consistently putting on a show.

The Academy leads the league in six offensive categories as a team: runs, hits, doubles, triples, RBIs, and total bases. The squad has scored 139 runs off of 172 hits. The closest team in each category, the Healdsburg Prune Packers have 131 runs and 167 hits. Of those, 64 have been extra-base hits, once again the most in the league. The Barons lead the league in both doubles and triples with 42 and 15 respectively. The Prune Packers are second in doubles with 39 while the Long Beach Legends have the second-most triples with eight.

The Barons also lead the CCL in RBIs having knocked in 115 already. The So Cal Catch have the second-most with 112.

In the team’s 15 games, they have recorded 10 or more hits in 10, and have scored double-digits in runs seven times.

The offense is powered by a few players who are league-leaders in individual offensive categories. Outfielder Ernie De La Trinidad leads the league in batting average as the only player hitting above .500. Through 14 games, De La Trinidad is hitting .508 (32×63). He also leads the league in hits with 32, four more than the next player, another Baron, Martin Teague.

Among all, perhaps the most notable performance is De La Trinidad’s hitting streak, as he has recorded a hit in all 14 games in which he has appeared. He has recorded more than one hit in 11 of those games. Teague has recorded a hit in every game but one (14) and has 11 multi-hit games as well.

Teague leads the CCL in RBIs with 24 this summer. A Prune Packer, Dan James, is second with 19. Also on the RBI leader board is Aaron Cisneros who is tied (2) for fourth in the league with 16.
