Barons Power Past Legends With 12 Hits

The Barons (12-3, 7-3) won their fourth consecutive game on Sunday, defeating the Long Beach Legends at the Academy, 10-2.

RHP Kyle Murray earned his third win of the season, a number that ties (2) him for most in the league. Murray pitched five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) and collecting six strikeouts. RHP Gary Smith tossed two scoreless and hitless innings, striking out two along the way. RHP Oscar Muñoz pitched a scoreless eighth inning with one strikeout, and LHP Ryan Paramo closed the game throwing a scoreless ninth and striking out one.

The Barons were led once again by left fielder Ernie De La Trinidad who went 2×3 with a home run. De La Trinidad is first in the league in hits (32) and second in batting average (.508) behind only Eric Ramirez of the Conejo Oaks (.513).

Third baseman Martin Teague went 2×5 with one RBI to give him a league-leading 24. Designated hitter Adonis Morrison went 2×3 with two RBIs and a double. Center fielder James Stea went 2×5, and shortstop Sam Shaikin went 1×4 with two RBIs.

The Barons host the Conejo Oaks (6-3, 6-3) on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
