Barons Use Late Surge To Beat Catch

The Academy (10-3, 5-3) beat the So Cal Catch for the second time in as many games on Friday afternoon at Biola University, 10-2.

RHP Sebastian Sanchez started the day on the bump for the Barons, throwing five innings and gathering five strikeouts. RHP Travis Bonner followed in relief collecting five strikeouts over three scoreless innings. RHP Oscar Muñoz finished the game throwing a scoreless ninth inning and striking out one.

The Compton squad erupted in the eighth inning, scoring seven runs. The highlight of the inning came when first baseman Aaron Cisneros hit a three-run bomb to left field. Cisneros went 2×5 on the night. Center fielder Ernie De La Trinidad extended his season-long hit streak going 2×6 with one RBI. Designated hitter Martin Teague and right fielder Kevin Maxey went 2×4 with three RBIs and 2×3 respectively. Third baseman Trent Hammond hit his first home run of the season, hitting a solo shot and finishing the night 1×4. Catcher Chris Kobar went 1×3 with two RBIs.

The Barons continue their road trip on Saturday when they face the Long Beach Legends at Long Beach City College tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
