The Barons beat the So Cal Catch in exciting fashion on Thursday night, winning 11-10 after a three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning by designated hitter Cody Den Beste.

Den Beste was set up after the Barons gave away a six-run lead over the course of the seventh and eighth innings. With men on first and second, and the Barons trailing by two, Den Beste blasted a ball over the right field wall to give the Barons enough runs to secure the win.

RHP Reece Buska earned the win for the Barons, striking out three over the final 1.2 innings. RHP Tyler Tungate started on the bump for the Barons, tossing four innings and allowing only one run.

The Barons offensive momentum was strong from the gate, scoring three runs in the first inning. The team continued to pepper the field with hits, accumulating a total of 17 to score their 11 runs.

Den Beste finished the night going 2×3 with a home run, double, and four RBIs. Left fielder Ernie De La Trinidad had his seventh multi-hit game of the season, going 4×5 with a double and two RBIs. Third baseman Martin Teague joined him in the multi-hit club, with his seventh of the season going 3×5 with a double and two RBIs. First baseman Aaron Cisneros went 2×3.

The Academy will travel to Biola University Friday to play the last of a two-game set against the Catch. The first pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m.
