Barons Fall After Late Burst From Riptide

The Barons lost to the Orange County Riptide Thursday night, 15-7, after giving up eight runs in the top of the ninth inning.

Barons pitching gave up 21 hits and collected only two strikeouts over the course of the game. Gary Smith was charged with the loss.

After a strong start in which the Barons scored five runs in the first inning, the team struggled, scoring only twice more. First baseman Aaron Cisneros went 2×5 with three RBIs on the night. Shortstop Zack Kolakowski went 1×4 with two RBIs.

The Barons take the field again on Saturday when they host a non-league game against the Orange County Surf at 6 p.m.
