Barons right-handed pitcher Oscar Muñoz was named a 2016 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) third team All-American on Tuesday. He was a junior last season at Bethesda University of California in Anaheim.

Muñoz started 15 games and appeared in 21, posting a 10-4 record and throwing one complete game. He tossed a total of 110 innings, set a 2.86 ERA, and collected 95 strikeouts.

“It’s very satisfying to see all of the hard work I’ve put in pay off,” Muñoz said. “Every time I step on the mound I try to be the best I can be.”

Muñoz is in his second summer with the Barons. Last summer, he earned CCL All-Star status while striking out 40 batters and earning a 1.68 ERA.

Muñoz has struck out five and posted a 2.25 ERA in four innings of work to begin his 2016 campaign with the Barons.
