The Barons (6-1, 2-1) beat the Orange County Riptide Tuesday night, 10-3, for their second straight victory.
A strong pitching performance from starter Tyler Tungate kept the Riptide at bay. Tungate threw four innings allowing only one run while collecting four strikeouts in his first appearance as a Baron. Kyle Murray followed striking out three over three scoreless innings before Gary Smith and Oscar Muñoz wrapped things up in the final two innings.
The Barons offense exploded in the eighth inning as DH Ernie De La Trinidad continued his impressive hitting as of late going 3×4 with two RBIs, and catcher Albert Perez (1×3) knocked a two run double.
Also contributing at the plate was right fielder Jonah Hargroves who went 2×3 and scored three runs. Centerfielder James Stea went 1×4 with one RBI on the night.
The Academy will return home on Thursday to host the Riptide at 6 p.m.
