Barons Fall to Oaks in CCL Opener

The Barons suffered their first loss of the season Sunday afternoon, 14-2, in what marked the team’s first league game and first road game. The loss came at the hands of the Conejo Oaks at Sparky Anderson Field in Thousand Oaks.

The Compton squad gave up 21 hits, the most they have allowed this season. Starting pitcher Ryan Hare tossed four complete innings allowing only two runs, however the game got away from the Barons in the fifth and sixth innings in which three and six runs scored respectively.

The Oaks stifled the Barons at the plate allowing only four hits — the fewest the team has recorded thus far in the season. The Barons scored their runs in the fifth and sixth innings. DH Martin Teague was 2×3 on the day with the Barons only RBI. Outfielder Ernie De La Trinidad went 2×4 with two doubles.

The Barons resume league play on Tuesday when they host the San Luis Obispo Blues.
